I just got these pictures from Ali. For those of you who do not know, Ali is my brother's girlfriend and their dog is Marley I especially like the pictures with Marley. She is very curious as to what this new little thing in our house is.

Home Again (Finally)

We are finally home again after 2 long nights in the hospital. Poor Maya had a little case of Jaundice and she had to undergo photo-therapy for a little over 30 hours. For those of you who do not know (I had never heard of it before) jaundice is caused by the baby's liver being immature and unable to perform its job in the early days of life. This leads to high levels of something called bilirubin which can cause problems in the baby's brain if not treated. The photo-therapy is like a tanning bed that they put the baby in. For some reason the light makes the jaundice go away. They do not know why, but they know it works. Her bilirubin levels are now back to normal. Apparently jaundice is a pretty common thing for newborns, but it was still very sad for us to have to leave her under the lights for so long and she hated the little mask that they make the babies wear to protect their eyes from the light. Anyway, we are all happy to be home. At grandma's request we will add more photos asap.

General Update

We have been busy since we got home on Saturday morning. We have had frequent visits from many of our friends which has been nice as it has given us a little break and Yolanda a chance to rest. On Saturday we had visits from Candice, Patrick, Audrey, Cadie and Bill, my parents, Katy, Missy, and Rob and Ali. Then on Sunday we were visited by most of the same, plus Joda and Adam came by and watched the Charger game with us. We are lucky to have such good friends. Thanks to Audrey, Patrick, Missy and Ali our fridge is stocked with home cooked meals for the next week and Candice is here this morning helping baby sit so mom can get caught up on sleep and I can get caught up on work.

Yolanda's mom, Jim, Jordan and Heyden are coming to visit the day after Christmas and we are very excited for them to meet her and to see them. Hopefully she can meet Concha and Nate, and Abuelito Tomas very soon as well. We will be up in Bellingham this spring to visit the rest of Yolanda's family.
